B&D Automotive has been a member of ASA since 1983.
In the spring of 1996, several shop owners, in the Wilmington area, formed a Delaware Chapter of the Automotive Service Association. Because of the small size of this new chapter, we decided to join with a larger neighboring state affiliate. Pennsylvania has one of the largest state affiliations in the country and a well established benefits plan.
Our first agenda was to work with the Attorney Generals Office of the State of Delaware on a pending fraud bill which was directed towards our industry. The original draft of the bill was rather one sided. And after several rewrites, it was finally agreed that both the consumer and businesses were being treated fairly. The final draft was signed onto the books in June of 1996.
Our ongoing focus is to provide to it's members information and tools to improve there business environment. We hold monthly meetings with varied topics including business management, operational concepts, technician training topics.
In late 1998 there was a disagreement between the National office of ASA and the state affiliates. As a result a large number of the state affiliates broke away from ASA National and formed their own alliance Automotive Service Professionals (ASP).
We are moving towards forming our own state chapter. By moving south to Kent and Sussex counties, we hope to gain enough participation to make the venture worthwhile.
Dave McCracken, serving as the Treasurer of Delaware Chapter #2 of ASP of PA, was one of the five original shop owners that formed the local chapter.
"Automotive Service Excellence" ASE was founded in 1972 as an independent, non-profit organization with a single mission: To improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians.
B&D Automotive employs technicians certified by the ASE.

Founded in 1981, the Mobile Air Conditioning Society Worldwide (MACS) is the leading forum for its specialized segment of the automotive after market. MACS' purpose is to fill the industry's need for comprehensive technical information, training and communication.
All of the technicians at B&D Automotive are Certified in A/C refrigerant recovery and recycling.
